The worst in the series and the ending sucks, but its a fun game.

So...... we're gonna be left hanging on that ending forever, huh?

1. What the hell happened
2. What did we do to deserve this after years of waiting
3. Why. Just why.

Fucked up how they ended the series on a cliffhanger

Most plot lines aren't resolved and most likely never will be. The combat had no innovation but was very easy compared to already fairly easy games. The setting had multiple points of no return which made Djinn collecting very frustrating. Half the party members have no reason to be there and are just there to have 8 party members. One of my biggest gaming disappointments.

Pretty decent follow-up to the GBA classics but unfocused plot, point of no return and being way too damn easy hold it back. It still deserves a sequel though

Man Golden Sun was a great series I wish they'd made a third one.

Basic, ugly, and disappointing. Gameplay didn't do much to evolve from the last two games, and those were made nearly a decade ago. Graphics were pretty bad, even by DS standards. Story at least had some interesting revelations, especially if you're a fan of the series, but it doesn't end up going anywhere and it hands on a cliffhanger that kinda feels moreso like a forgotten plot point. Game didn't offer much of a challenge either.

Golden Sun as a series can be put to rest at this point.

Somehow the worst one in the trilogy. Camelot are such shit developers goddamn

Meh, it feels so empty compared to the first two. It isn't that bad in its own right though.

As a huge fan of the first two, I don't think I've ever been more disappointed by a game. Steer clear.

This game has a bad reputation for being the weakest link in an otherwise outstanding RPG- series.

But I don’t see it, I started with this game and played the other games later on, so I may be blinded by nostalgia. The turnbased battles are very fun. The puzzles and dungeons give the ds Zelda games a run for their money .The music is just great and takes full adventage of the unique ds-soundquality. The graphics are great for a ds game, but the ds isn’t really made to handle 3d and this does hinder the artstyle when looking back several years later.

But, there are reasons people dislike this game, and I understand why. How fun the gameplay in an RPG may be, in an RPG story and characters are extremely important. This is where dark dawn drops the ball.

The 3 main protagonists and returning characters are all handled well enough. The later allys and villians are 1-dimensional and lack a compelling motivation, especially when compared to the first two games.

The cutscenes are often way too long, unnecessary and unskippable. The world of golden sun is unique and creative with many magical events and locations. The story also has its effects on the overworld wich is always a nice touch. Sadly the game locks you out of the beginning area after a certain point. This feels like a point of no return storywise, but is an annoying blockade gameplaywise if you didnt get all collactables before this point.

The story has some fun moments, starts of quite silly wich is fine, the ending is sadly enough not very memorable.

Overall I recommand this game to all RPG fans, the game is certainly easier than the gameboy games and this makes it accessible to new players. If you don’t grind this game also had its tough moments for RPG veterans.

On its own, it's pretty a-okay, but I've also never played the other entries. Apparently it's pretty bad by comparison, but I wouldn't know. I DO remember the ending being underwhelming though.

more like golden sun DORK dawn haha got'em
