the redditor's MMO. a hybrid action MMO with all the auditory and visual feedback of slapping around warm butter in an old, crumply sock, combined together was a completely unengaging, boring fucking story that doesn't live up to its previous titles. watered down class mixing that doesn't live up to its several-million combination multiclassing system; legitimately more ugly than heavensward with a bad reshade preset; extremely obtuse to the point where its own fans will not actually want to explain anything to you and will tell you to use the ingame wiki commands to automatically open something on your browser, and you're left with left with a game taking the worst parts of its predecessor and horizontal-mmos like OSRS and combining them into one "we have absolutely nothing better to play these days" package. thank god they're authorizing guild wars 3, because hopefully they can make a good game at launch this time.

Not worth it.
The Combat system really sucks being you can really just spam moves with it not having ANY combos whatwhoever.
The "tutorial" of the game i can say that is completly dookie and its just there so you spend more time on the game (learned nothing from it just wasted my time).

If you're looking forward to play this game well, dont. There is plenty of better MMO Rpgs you could play for an exemple:
FF14
WOW
Albion Online
Runescape...

Best MMORPG out there. To be honest, I couldn't get into GW2 in the beginning despite being a huge fan of GW1. But after all these years, I gave it another try and the game was actually really good. Worth a play.

This is my most played game i play it since 2013 on and off but every time i start playing again it takes me back fully and gets me hooked for months. This is maybe the most fair MMO that exists you can buy everything with in-game gold and also you don’t have to pay monthly like soo many other MMO’s do it so if you have never tried it i can only recommend it especially because new players can catch up very easily

People probably won't like me for saying this, but trying this game out as an assignment during my video games course in college was one of the ways I found out that MMORPGs just aren't for me. Clearly, the appeal is there for many folks, but I just kinda wandered around aimlessly for a little while & that was that. If you dig MMOs, more power to ya ---- they're just not my cup of tea.

The leveling really turned me off coupled with the fact that the combat kinda felt lackluster to me.

probably widely agreed upon, this is the most f2p friendly mmorpg with a nice nostalgia factor with the graphical blooms. such a good f2p experience that buying expansions seems like a big probability for me

Guild Wars 2 remains as one of the all time best MMORPG's of all time. Best leveling progression system and world discovery of any MMORPG I have played. However, end game feels lackluster and seems more like a chore than a fun way to progress like character leveling.

Never got into it. Also it's P2W from what I remember

This was my first MMORPG and I honestly did not know what to expect. First week of playing and I knew I had to buy the expansion packs already. There's just so much content to enjoy — the world exploration, the mounts, side quests, and voiced dialogues, to name a few. The in-game world, Tyria, is teeming with so much life, from the NPCS to the overworld enemies. On top of that, the community is very active and helpful especially to beginners like me.

However, in terms of class progression and combat system, they are not too elaborate in a way that one playstyle will sometimes suffice to survive through the game. Plus, the story, which I personally think is not the main selling point of GW2, did not connect to me as much. However, all the other feats I mentioned makes up for this.

Overall, I really like how the game respects my time, regardless how busy I am doing adult things in my 9 to 5.

You're not doing this to me again, Areanet!

Felt a desire to play an MMO. Really enjoying the things that set this game apart from others in the genre. Excited to see what the end game and more group oriented activities look like.

this is probabl ythe mmo ive put the most time into but honestly none of it really sticks in my brain its definitely an mmo you go places and level up and shit yeah

I used to play this game with some of my school friends ages ago!
I really don't remember much, and I tried getting into it again like a year ago, but I just couldn't.

All I remember is that clearing the map wasnt boring at all, and PvP was also super fun and balanced! I loved making new characters to try all their skills and builds against people heehe!

Completing the maps was the best part. Had some good times. Combat is okay but black desert is better.

Nice little campaign. Will play the expansions when they are cheap.

just to get the negs out of the way, I reaaaaally don't like the human character models. Can't get more generic, Mattel Doll faced than that. Voice acting and writing is about the same quality, just plastic as heck.

and yet, the game compels me in a similar way as the first. world just pulls me right in, wandering around, fighting, and this sequel being a proper open shared zone MMO is pretty rad. The story overall i like a great deal even if the moment to moment telling gets dry.

mucho farmeo y puro pay to win

Charr, warrior, Blood Legion. Divertido pra cacete.

One of my favourite mmos and just games in general up there with runescape. GW2 respects your time and is really good for people who have things to do outside of video games.

I picked this game up ages ago and put it down soon after, then I picked it up again because a certain someone I was romantically interested in enjoyed this game (this comes up again later), already not a whole lot that piqued my interest, in mmo's I like to make cool characters, easy when the art style is realism and easy when it's cartoon-y or anime-y, but this is neither not a negative, but it made making a character that was "cool" hard.

Next was the races and yeah those were fine, pick a human, move on, then finally, the last part of the character creation arc, picking a class easily the hardest part as it's a pick one and that's it system rather then osrs or ff14, which meant that my choice mattered and I had to live with it, which made it even harder to choose as none of them tickled me at all, they all had a slight negative that turned me off them, but I eventually begrudgingly picked an engineer.

And now I'm actually in the game, and I followed the story, not very enthused, but then I'm presented with the gameplay, and the general exploration, and I actually start to have fun, just completing menial tasks alongside my partner while I enjoy this part of the game, but after like a couple hours of playing all the small side tasks are done, and I have to actually progress with the story, and I really just don't want to. And soon after I break up with my partner and now I just don't want to play the game at all, honestly it's not even from the person I was with though, it's just cause I really don't enjoy the story.

Honestly quite the long winded overview of my feelings on the game, but really it just has a negative connotation over all, both being a boring game and having some memories attached to it that I don't care for anymore, unfortunate as it's not the games fault but it is how it is.

Very underrated as far as mmo's go, decent gameplay, no subscription(there are cons), heaps of content and you never feel like you need to be on 24/7 to get anywhere. However, all the cool stuff is locked behind DLC and the cash shop. Unless you're a hardcore mmo lover and want to spend $150 for all the dlc's plus whatever you may or may not spend in the cash shop I really do not think it is worth, especially if you consider the possibility that at some point the game will go offline. I would also not recommend it if you don't have at least a friend to play with.

I gave the game a few good sessions, but I don't really have the desire to play mmo's anymore.

One of the more fun MMORPGs I've played, and I only started playing fairly recently, in like June of 2022! It's a game I keep meaning to pick back up, and maybe my rating will change with time, but as it stands it had a fun story that I enjoyed heavily, and the exploration both with friends and solo were wonderful.
Will pick up again soon.

The gameplay was just not for me

Everyone gets their MMO drug of choice and for the past 10 years this has been mine. The ability to just drop for a year or two at a time and come back in with little to no catching up to do gearwise really helps from feeling burned out (not to mention not having a subscription fee to make you feel like you need to be playing). The gameplay might not be as intricate compared to some others out there, but it's really fun once you get the hang of it. And the amount of things you can do in the world, especially as a solo player, really helps so you never feel like there's nothing to do. The endgame turns a bit into Fashion Wars, which may turn some people off who are looking for a more traditional power grind - but if you enjoy the exploration or character part of MMOs I highly recommend this one.

Still one of my favorite MMOs. My partner and I convinced a friend to try out GW2. It's been years since I have fully replayed the core game's story. Overall, I like the main story. When you create your character, you get to pick a couple of choices for their backstory. That can be really fun when you're creating alts. You can make a serious or goofy character. It adds to role playing.

I like how they presented the dialogue. You can make the text read quicker by skipping lines, or skip entire dialogue if you're replaying for achievements. They get rid of this format right after. :(

You can complete main story missions with friends! You can't do that in other MMOs for some ungodly reason.

The game never felt like a slog to me, unlike other MMOs. I enjoy you don't have "quests." You just run into an area and start helping.

I do find Orr boring. They lay heavy on the backstory from the first Guild Wars. Really helpful for someone like me that didn't play it. However, I don't need to see it again with every character. It's the same info. The final three zones into Orr are too similar. The enemies are the same. The atmosphere is identical. I did play around the time when these zones were the end game. Even back then...it was plain.
