Very brief demo for King's Field III that can be completed in about 30 minutes. Interesting to see the series condensed into this form, but not worth playing unless you're a King's Field completionist.

It's a bite size version of KF, so it's good because KF is good.
That's about it.
I would be mad if I paid for it tho.

this is certainly a demo.
having played this directly after king's field ii it's nice to see the quality of life improvements to the gameplay and the better game performance and technical prowess across the board, but this is just a ~45 minute prequel-demo to King's Field III, so it's tiny and very simple. nothing special.

Part demo for King's Field III, part prequel to fill in a small gap between it and it's predecessor. A quick 30 or so minute one-shot King's Field that really encapsulates its whole deal in a short amount of time, which offers a great opportunity for someone to jump in and see if this series is for them. Kinda wild to have almost the whole thing take place outside, feels so much more open than the last two games.

Played via Vimm's online hosting, for some reason the downloaded bin wouldn't go past Press Start.

Bite sized King's Field problems and all.

Pilot Style is simply a demo for King's Field 3 and not much more. All the mechanics and atmosphere are here -- melee combat, spells, keys, shops, morose NPCs, etc... All shoved into a small, 30-45 minute experience. It has the variable framerate from KF2, which can be frustrating.

Narratively it is telling a prequel story of a character you hear a lot about but never meet in KF3, Silvarion. It is sort of cute and I liked playing as this people's hero figure, but Pilot Style is fairly inconsequential.

Playing through it was just ok. It lacks the cohesion present in the first two King's Fields and the scope of the third. There just isn't enough time here to really sell the mystery and atmosphere.
I like that this exists, and it is a cool thing for From Software to have done. This sort of stand-alone, playable side-story as a demo is rare in video games.
