I think I’m finally ready to say that Klonoa is overrated. Which is odd since no one cares about this series, but the people that do REALLY do. The stories in all these games, especially this one which is apparently the best, are not deeper than a kiddie pool. Deeper than most platformers? For sure. But anything crazy? No not at all. The gameplay too is just kinda middle of the road. I like some of the puzzles they did here, specifically with the crystal villians but eh. Mid.
Absolutely on par with the original game. The graphics, music, and stages are either on par or surpass what DtP did. The controls are about the same, not much to say.
Now the story, it's great. From the emotional beats and character interactions, this is very well written. One particular aspect i like is that Klonoa just has more people to talk to besides just the person going into his ring and the occasional NPC.
PS2 or modern systems, give this a shot when you can, even if you haven't played the original IMO.

The biggest improvement with this compared to the original is with the levels. There is more variety on the gameplay and visuals as we travel anything from amusement park to an castle made of memories. I also found the music to be catchier in this one.
Other than that it's more of the same so it's rather solid platformer.

A phenomenal sequel to the original! While I ultimately prefer the 1st at the end of the day, I can't deny how much 2 improves and how much fun it is! The new snowboard levels are a blast, the new variety of puzzles are satisfying to solve, and while the story isn't as crazy as 1, it still manages to tug at the heart strings here and there. Must play!
