Owned and played this as a kid but never beat it. Felt nostalgic and decided to give it a go again. Ended up 100% it and getting all the zoo animals even!

While not a perfect game by any means, it ended up having the same vibes as Jak and Daxter. Except in Jak and Daxter's case, they ended up getting more games to continue the story. No such luck for Kya, which is a shame especially given the cliffhanger and there having obviously been more planned for future games.

Still, the studio behind the game isn't dead (though it is funny that they mostly just make racing games, with their newest release being a checks notes smurf kart racer), and they celebrated the game's 20th Anniversary with a stream, so there is still hope of some kind of re-release, even if we'll never get a continuation of Kya's story.

Then again, they were also purchased by a blockchain/crypto company, so maybe not. :( Free them.

this game was criminally underplayed in the 2000s and it's criminally underplayed now

Kya the Dark Lineage is one of the worst Playstation two I ever played. The main protagonist left a bad impression on me at the start of the game and all she did is complained about how much she hate her dad when he mysteriously disappeared. Never caring or bothering to do any research on how he disappeared and why. When she did found out about his fate, she still continues to hate on him.

If the main character wasn't bad enough, the writers for the game decided to reveal the whole plot of the game too early by revealing who's the bad guy is and then left nothing else in it.

The map is a joke and impossible to use to navigate the village to find any of the shops and the combat system is a pain to use cause it takes forever to finish a fight.

The game overall is bland, not fun to play, and the story doesn't grab your attention for long and I abandoned it due to how annoying the blimp level got in it.

no se si he disfrutado mas el juego por el gameplay o por las incontables veces que mi cerebro ha hecho click y ha recordado momentos y sensaciones de infancia jugando a la plei 2.
sea que lo que sea, se gozó

Extremely underrated gem that deserved more recognition on its release.

Rayman 3 but for people who only play underground indie games (This isn't an indie game but Atari is fucking dead so it's close enough)

This is a game where I have to say was a weird time for me. Levels and gameplay were nice but the story was somewhat weak.
