Just pure amazing wholesome sugary fluff. Actually felt like I was going to have an heart attack while playing it because of how cute and wholesome it was! Every route had its own interesting stories with each character (I say every but I avoided the sister route, no comments on that one) and I just loved them all. Though n one can beat best girl Karen, she is unbeatable.

One of the few visual novels I catch myself replaying.

My route ratings: Saki 10/10 • Mashiro 3/10 • Reina 7/10 • Ako 5/10 • Karen 9/10 (listed in order I read them in - I did Saki first by going in blind, then saved Karen for last because she's by far the most highly regarded)

Loved Saki and Karen so much. The VN as a whole gets an extra point for how great they were (like Aokana did for Misaki). MC's parents really deserved to have their own sprites not just voices

the bonus is better if all ur looking for is a fap

The Lord watches all and this sin shall be stained upon your soul as it has stained mine. Repent brothers and sisters.

Overall I quite enjoyed it! I went in expecting something unique with the slice of life adult age romance stories and got that in spades. I guess SMEE likes their structure since every route had the same amount of chapters but didnt mind.

Kazuma was a fun protag. Felt like the Fureraba protag but a little sillier. The humor was consistently quite good in every route. Having voiced good side characters helped. I guess the romance was predictable and slightly shallow but it worked for the most part. Fun music.

Saki's route/character was nice and chill. Perfect for a first route. Having a character close to my IRL age helped. Kazuma felt most openly degnerate but Saki kept him in line. Felt like Kazuma had more development than Saki. Pre-epilogue ending felt a little rushed?

Not usually into tsunderes but can't deny Karen character and route were quality and developed. Her route started and ended with a bang. She was pretty honest, willing to compromise and mess around which helped. Some of her angry yelling was still annoying though.

Reina character/route was kinda... meh? Her personality seems like something I'd like, but it kinda felt contradictory or wishy washy. And more annoying than I thought. Maybe I was too bias againt the age gap romance. Both her and Kazuma's goals werent covered well enough.

Ako is unfortunate. I like her personality. There were some legit feels that made sense in the context of their relationship. Sadly the (fake) incest and age gap romance brought down the route to just decent for me. Not into those. She'd work better as an adult childhood friend.

Mashiro I purposefully saved for last and I'm glad I did. I was looking for an adult age energetic but nice weirdo like Kotori (Rewrite). She definitely delivered. Her constants puns and out there jokes were definitely weird but charming and funny. There was never a dull moment for sure. The gamer girl thing was nice but wasnt used much? Her romance rules was slightly annoying. A few jokes went a little too much like Her throwing her ring in the ocean in her last Chapter, either to do a romantic shit test, or cuz she was apparently so insecure to consider breaking up which pissed me off. Thankfully she apologized. Kazuma felt a little bland in her route. Still liked route since Mashiro was good and had slight development.

Girl Rankings: Mashiro > Ako > Saki = Karen >> Reina

Route Rankings: Karen >= Mashiro > Saki > Ako > Reina

Overall definitely recommend this VN if you want funny and simple, sweet slice of life romance with adult age characters and/or good comedy.

Making Lovers is one of the more beloved and popular romcom VNs and it's easy to see why. First of all, it's refreshing to have an adult cast/setting. Meaning you drink at a bar together, get drunk, look for apartments, move in together, talk about marriage and children, workplace shenanigans among other things. It's refreshing to not have the usual teenage cast+school setting. ML gives you relatable and genuinely funny gags as the characters navigate adult life together.

ML has five different routes after a very brief common route. The short common route means that you hardly even meet the other girls once you're locked to a route. This is actually nice, since it means that it's not a harem and you won't get the unrealistic situation that MC has five different girls in love with him at the same time. If ML does one thing well, it's consistency. Every route and girl is about equally good. They offer so many funny, wholesome, memorable scenes at a very steady pace. I don't think there was a single moment where I was bored reading this VN.

Another cool feature is being able to choose your own date location, as well as a place to eat afterwards. Each date you put together is slightly different, making it enjoyable to put together the perfect date that fits each of the girls.

Overall, it's all I'd want from a romcom VN. It's lighthearted, funny and adorable and shines brightest when its endearing characters are just goofing around together, with a little bit of substance to each route just to make the characters feel a bit more fleshed out.
