One of the more underrated entries in the mascot kart racing genre. This is one of those Kart Racers with an actual campaign like Diddy Kong Racing. Every track has collectibles, and there's different kinds of challenges you need to complete to get full completion. There's car combat, obstacle courses, and straight forwards racing. You have the normal competition mode for each course and an exploration mode where you drive freely through the level to find stuff. It's a fun idea although it can be a bit excessive. You need to get everything from one category in one go in a certain time limit at which point you're kicked out Mario 64 style and have to go in again. In Diddy Kong Racing, you can be done with a level in a few minutes tops. In Muppet Race Mania you might spend an hour per track. That may not appeal to everybody.

The racing is pretty solid. The combat I never got the hang of, but it's not half bad. The Muppet theming is perhaps the solid point - they really went deep into the lore for some of these locations and characters and it's something I appreciated. Between that and the amount of content it's definitely a fun little play through although you need to be prepared to spend more time on this one than you would on a game like Diddy Kong Racing or Crash Team Racing.

A weird amount of my early video game memories come from Kart racers based on IPs that didn't really scream Kart racer. And yet lo.

I mean alongside South Park Rally it is only two but it's weird it happened twice. I suppose it isn't too hard to creat a map loosely themes to the subject matter and have the characters race around. It's a quick buck but the fun factor is present.

If you dont have nostalgia for it, a You Tube gameplay clip really will save you £40+ asking price.

There's a level based on A Christmas Carol, so they get bonus points for that!

The swamp level looks like my fucking toilet

One of the most unique kart racers of it's generation. Lots of different game modes and different tracks to keep you busy, and an even ambitious adventure mode that while not nearly as cohesive or interesting as a game like Diddy Kong Racing is still very welcome. Well worth your time if you're ever in the mood for a new soulful kart game.

Fun, but come on, this game just put shortcuts that brings you back, also it's really a MUPPET game and not just any game with the Muppets has a background.

this game has a track where some shortcuts will actually take you backwards. This game is unholy.

If you want a high-speed racing game on the PS1 WELL just play CRT.......this is just fine.

idk how but when i was like 11 i read this muppet wicker man comic and it like scared me soooo much

anyhow this is like rlly well made for cheap little muppet racing game,, cute that all the levels are based on the movies and have clips from them correlating to each track. cute stuff =-)

I'm pretty sure this doesn't actually deserve this score but it does in my memories

My first karting game and a decently competent one at that. Visually interesting and a variety of tracks based on the films. Growing up with the muppets also meant being able to pick and choose my favourites to race as was always a highlight.

While I think some of the gameplay is probably of questionable quality at times, it certainly oozes with charm. The most outstanding memory for me was the terrible jokes from Statler and Waldorf at the start of each race.

This was a beacon of fun to play. The battle mode is a particular highlight, taking what made Crash Team Racing and putting Muppet characters there instead makes for a fantastic experience. Watching chickens dart about the course as you watch your fav Muppets clamber for those short cuts. A wild ride, get it!

Low-key amazing use of the Muppets license. Filled to the brim with charm and content.

The cars control like soap bars on a wet floor and I'm upset that my childhood memories of this game were deceitfully positive.
