NFL Blitz Pro attempts to update the classic arcade football formula with realistic 11-on-11 gameplay and a deeper simulation approach. While it captures the over-the-top hits and fast-paced action of the Blitz series, the execution feels uneven. The added complexity can be fun, but also introduces some clunkiness. Blitz purists might find the changes jarring, while the simulation aspects don't quite match the depth of dedicated football titles. Despite its flaws, NFL Blitz Pro still offers a unique blend of arcade-style fun and some satisfying strategic elements.

They put so much effort into the commentators' banter that they forgot to make the game fun.

Doesn't feel like Blitz anymore, it's just another football game now. This is where the series lost its way. Tragic.

Blitz Pro was a good idea in theory: a faster-paced 11-on-11 arcade football game to serve as an alternative to sim football games. Unfortunately, it just doesn't execute well on the concept. Big plays and long touchdowns typically feel out of reach due to defense's super dives. There's finally a running game in Blitz, but again, it's hard to get around the defense.
The stadiums and presentation also just look a notch below what Madden and 2K were doing at the time.

Maybe this could have worked with more improvements in the following years, but this turned out to be Midway's last licensed NFL game.
