I was putting off playing this romhack. Despite my utter adoration for Pikmin 2 and its caves, I felt as if a game that was just... the caves, would be a little stale. Evidently, I was wrong.

Colossal Caverns is a chaotic mess, which is brilliant. As this is essentially a rougelike, your mileage will vary massively. I had some incredibly memorable moments while playing; bosses overlapping and creating blockades, the Titan Dweevil stalking me through the entire map, long pilgrimages just to get a second type of Pikmin... it's so much fun.

This is Pikmin 2's caves at their apex, you'll be problem solving on the fly and there's never a truly correct solution. There's so much room for customization, for adapation, for shit to hit the fan. It's nonsense, but it's nonsense in the form of a Pikmin game, and I'll definitely be diving back in for seconds, thirds and fourths.

waterwraith rolled over the titan dweevil and instantly killed it

Incredible mod! Make sure to be very careful reading the instructions. I thought I set up everything correctly, but didnt follow the step saying to set the game settings properly. Feels a lot like a pikmin 2 roguelike and is extremely replayable!

You will 100% get hit by some ridiculous shenanighans and fucked situations that might put you on tilt or wipe your squad, so throw pikmin into safe spots to use them as bait. Id recommend playing 5 onion mode and with treasures on map to get used to the game!

The worst part about this game is bosses (especially the empress and spiders) spawning in positions where you cant safely fight them because they shake pikmin off into the void. Try leading them away to safer locations, but this doesnt always work. (Looking at the raging long legs, lol)

This game feels so good to 100%

Time: 04:06:30
Pikmin Killed: 111
Pikmin Alive: 1115
Pokos: 27614

agonizing but maybe ill do it again one day

If you're into Pikmin and ROM hacks; will you get a kick out of this no matter what. It is very technically impressive and I'm happy this game I love so much has a pretty in depth modding scene for as far as the average game goes. This is definitely worth checking out and very well made.

This game is fucking ass to play though oml

The game had unbearable slowdown when I started it even when following the instructions on the readme. Guess that's to be expected though.
