Girlfriend made me play and now I sell Pokémon on the black market

As of writing, I have only played through platinum on PokeMMO, so I can imagine different games will have different mechanics which will effect the legitimacy of some of the points I make. If I ever decide to go back to this review then I’ll add that.

PokeMMO feels like a enhanced port of the Pokemon games which many people consider the “best ones”, with MMO features added to make the experience slightly more interesting. A lot of it is streamlined, and there is some good QOL I appreciate (though I disagree with the micro-transactions required to purchase the HM flutes, they have to make their money somehow but I feel like cosmetics cover that). Also, I noticed some changes to battling that I appreciated (such as the overhauled giratina fight which actually makes it feel intimidating). However, it lacks some some side content from the games which previously provided a nice break from the experience. Additionally, I dislike how PokeMMO places a focus on competitive systems (like EVs, IVs and natures) without streamlining the process (from what I’ve seen, anyway). Making a competitively-viable Pokémon is an absolute nightmare in most games and PokeMMO does not take any strides to reduce the issues, which I personally find to be disappointing. For the time being, I can recommend PokeMMO as a fun way to re-experience some of the games, but it doesn’t become the definitive way to play these games because of the issues stated. Still, if the team is able to rectify the lack of content in some areas, I can see this becoming my favourite way to play these games.

Practically perfect. Beat Gamefreak at their own game.

se tivesse fast forward seria melhor

This is what Game Freak should've done back in 2004. And some guy just did it alone in 2012 for the lolz. Imagine what he would've created with Nintendo's budget.

This goes to show how Nintendo lost their creativity a long time ago and now they just remake shit and abuse their nostalgia filled fans for profit.

shout out to the dev who gave me a Larvitar in Viridian City like 10 years ago

Probably what you dreamed of when you were a kid: a harder pokemon and MMO! Played a lot, found my shiny Tangela and rage quit after a shiny Geodude exploded himself right in front of me..

What you dreamed of when you were a kid. They even made it harder cus they know you're older!

A lot of effort to install for mid at best.

Não é nem um pouco ruim, só deu preguiça de jogar e acabei parando mesmo 😃👍

It's a nobel concept but it's still just a Pokémon game

if you ask me, definitive way to play the ds-era games today

pretty much what could've been if a "true to the games" pokemon MMO was done, very entertaining and a blast to play and finish Hoenn again just for the nostalgia

increased difficulty from the base games. online interactivity is meh

Not a huge Pokémon fan, but still, pretty awesome

As a kid I always wanted a way to play Pokemon LIVE with friends and with this it’s actually possible. They have gens 1-5 in one game and you can play with friends. They also fix up some things that the original games suffer from. It’s just a great game.
