SuchFart: Genius Dookie Simulator.

Another sandbox indie game where you're left with your own devices to just... make things. That's it.

I respect so much that there are actually so many different options to make things with. You have a whole museum of materials to work with and it is fun to just make stupid crap and it still sells for cost of rent as unrealistic as that is. It's a completely fine simulator but for me it gets played whenever I just want to have a goofy time on stream or something.

I think this game would get most of its use out on people who generally aren't artistic in daily life because it is a good bridge between gaming and art for the less art inclined. I am unfortunately an art school graduate so the appeal wore off fairly quickly for me. Drawing with a mouse or controller is actually painful, but VR would be a game changer for this game.

This game is currently in the Humble Choice for August 2023, this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before September 5th, 2022, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle.

A lovely Art Simulator.

Not to make this review about me, but I’m not very artistic, especially traditional art. I hate painting and drawing, and I inflict my programmer art on every new employee who joins my team at work and I take a silent joy in doing so. Sufficient to say art is not my thing.

After playing an hour of Such Art, I found myself enjoying drawing. Well not enjoying but at least having a good enough time that I wouldn’t mind continuing. There are enough unique suggestions and requests, that I found myself having fun even with my lack of ability. The desire to build a gallery, the chance to challenge myself, and painting mechanics that are unique and good. In addition, if you have a tablet, the game claims you can use that for the art if you prefer.

On the other hand, this is a simulator game, it’s more focused on the game mechanics than the art. If you want to go create art, use Krita or Gimp, or some other art program. But this is more about the experience of being an artist, and it does well with that. There are limitations to what you can use at least at first, but that can also push you to do something even better with the limitations and most of the limitations will make you a bit more inventive.

Pick this up if you love art, and want to play a game focused on creating art. The game also allows you to feature and display the art in a virtual gallery, take pictures of it, and have a real sense of pride in what you create. I’ll be honest, I’m not going to be returning, but I’d still recommend this to anyone who enjoys artistic pursuits because it’s not you, Such Art… it’s me. Also, I didn’t really love Passpartout: The Starving Artist, but this game is definitely speaking more to me, but if you enjoyed that title, this is definitely for you.

The potential was at 10, but the result was a fairly average indie, which is worth attention only because of its concept (and the ability to play with a graphics tablet). Yes, with a fairly creative brain, you can paint walls/doors/your environment in some interesting ways, you may find it interesting to mix a huge number of current tools, however, if you will have enough money for most of them, ok money appears maybe after 10-15 hours of work.. well, that is, you have a huge hub/apartment and a touch computer that you receive orders for, and you just need to draw on canvases and then send it to customers, and, of course, there are no restrictions, there is no way the game can check what you drew, so you can draw any scribbles or just draw 1 stroke if you are too lazy to complete a specific order, also some mails contain small stories, you have the opportunity to answer.. and the scene is generally a space station with Earth is visible from the window. Well, also a robot assistant will flies nearby, which will help you clean up the mess if you bring him enough money for the appropriate drivers,
So.. it would seem - an ideal concept, there would still be a cooperative and a hit for all times would have turned out, but no.. Everything is implemented as "impotent" as possible, which is sad.
The plot is generally some kind of childish crap, about how each race wants to capture the entire galaxy, and, it is purely textual, there is no game with friends, and it is not planned.. just imagine - a common hub for coloring with a friend.. Itself the graphics are very simple, the game about the visual does not have particularly unique visual, the detailing of objects is weak, 2 polygons, as usual in such indies, the game does not give you any interesting challenges,

🏆 In short, once again, everything is done as simple as possible, only the idea "carries everyting on its shoulders", well, thanks at least for the accelerated mode for streamers, in which you don’t have to farm money for a million years and you can skip the game in 4 hours.

Every customer in this game behaves like your mother trying to tell you that that one painting you made is the best. "OMG A STICK FIGURE, HOW MARVELOUS! YOU ARE DEFINITELY THE GREATEST ARTIST IN HUMAN HISTORY but maybe you should still consider becoming a doctor instead pls."

kind of silly, just very repetitive and kind of lackluster as a whole

С кайфом порисовал.

I recommend this game but with a few asterisks.

If you are walking into this expecting a drawing system approximating even a below average oekaki applet, you are going to be disappointed. I had no difficulty with the game recognising my drawing tablet (wacom pth-660), but pressure sensitivity is kind of lacking and tools are not particularly responsive on use. I don’t think this will improve with updates nor do I honestly expect it to. You’d be better off using MS Paint.

There are a wide variety of tools to use but after buying everything, I found myself in a sort of Goldilocks situation where none of them were just right for what I wanted. The solution to this is obviously adapting to the limitations of the tools themselves, but some might find this jarring.

Income can be rather slow. The most you can price a piece to sell at max fame is 400 credits. This is shocking when your ungrateful sister, after selling the birthday painting you made her for 30,000 credits, nonchalantly states you surely can’t be hurting for money as you’re definitely selling them for at least 2k each, right??? I would if I could... There also seems to be a hard cap on VR gallery visitors per day? Basically at some point you will likely find yourself in a quantity over quality scenario to keep your head above water because tools, paint, and canvases cost money.

There is some periphery plot about human/robot/alien politics but I’m not trying to accidentally encourage genociding anyone in this relaxing painting game so I largely ignored the story emails. Participation is unnecessary to progress as a painter, however if you want some kind of story and don’t like this one, well, you’re just left with a room where you paint.

Despite the game being early access, the existing content is substantial enough that there’s really no reason to wait to get it if you want it.

Extremely creative and surprisingly intuitive game. Very hard to do anything decent with a mouse (tho i'm sure lots of real genius artists might have a field day making these regardless) however the freedom it provides is truly refreshing.

Filled to the brim with moments of "i wonder if i can do this..." and finding out that yes indeed you can. Paint commissions, paint the walls, make a mess, promise you'll stop making a mess only to get too lazy to grab the pallet and just drop some of that paint you need directly on the ground. Fling paint with a spoon, explode a spray can, the possibilities are limitless and the game's good sense of humor helps keep you on the mood.

Gets a bit repetitive after a while, although luckily a "fast" mode is provided when making a save, i didn't experience the game through it but i'd assume it fixes my only issue with the game in which it does a much better job as a quick box of toys to have wonderful fun for a couple hours than it does as an ~8 hour campaign (which is how long it took for me to "beat" it).
