What a delight this is. Every screen a handcrafted wonder of plasticine, felt and cardboard. The character interactions often quietly funny or genuinely heartfelt. Can carry an air that is both melancholic and shockingly abrasive; the soundtrack is as unafraid to pummel the player with harsh noise as it is to sink back into hazy, hypnagogic background tones. The RPG mechanics, particularly the equipment and stats, are on the rustic side. But the combat still allows for some nuance in how it can play out and contains a bit of a brutal streak to keep you on your toes even as your ship accrues power. Exploration (and in some cases random chance) yields secrets that'll put a smile on your face alongside, of course, more wonderfully constructed places and creatures to look at.

Just a real treat of a free-spirited experience. Reminiscent of the work of other standout indies like Jack King-Spooner, in that respect. It'll be a tragedy if this doesn't find an audience of some kind. One of the gems of 2023.
