Does a much better job at handling an information-dense interface than you typically expect from the Game Boy and has some pretty nice QoL features like dictionary overrides, hand shuffling, and board zooming that were pleasant surprises. The AI is brutal though and I can't even pull the "you can't play that word unless you define it for me" move everyone does when a family member is destroying them. It also takes several minutes to take its turns, which is pretty brutal.

It's a technically functional game of Scrabble and that's about all you could hope for on your old grey brick.

Scrabble with rough controls and a fairly skilled AI makes for a completely variable time. It's far from impressive considering how many versions of Scrabble exist today in game catalogs, but it's also...y'know...Scrabble.

So it's only marginally less fun than Scrabble.
