yeah i don't like this 'temporary discover your surroundings that has no hallmarks' game mechanic

Lidar horror games are a niche style in a niche genre (horroslop). While an interesting concept, it does get old within about 30 minutes. Its design is inherently laborious and needs variety to stretch it to full length game. Voidness does spice it up by doing 'visible' sections and different environments other than "spooky cave". Ultimately it doesn't hold my attention long enough and I think its because the lack of variety in gameplay/environments. Watching the rest on youtube was a pleasant surprise. The ending, while not exactly a twist, does evoke some despair/dread.

"ERRRRMMM, YOU DIDNT COMPLETE THIS GAME, YOU ONLY WATCHED IT ON YOUCHUBE"
grabs you by the throat
picks you up
throws you out a window
Heh, too easy
