Look, I’m not even bothered by the fact that Sonic decided to become a cop. If he wants to uphold the law, then that is fine by me. But I guarantee you that, out of all the crimes he will stop, the most common one he will stop, ironically, will be people speeding on the highway. Fucking hypocrite.

I mean, it's very nothing, mostly just an animation that plays tied to hardware that doesn't exist in emulation. For what it must have been - a brief animation tied to a kid's arcade ride - it's fine. It's not aspiring to be more, but it shouldn't be more. That it has interactivity at all, limited as it is, is pretty cool. I mostly played this for the patent absurdity that was a ROM of this game existing on a MAME cabinet. The lack of a rating isn't an indictment on this, just a note that it doesn't make sense to rate this among video games.
Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car was a video game that was installed in a coin operated car ride – the type that children sit in and it moves around for a couple of minutes.
In Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car, Sonic is a police officer on his daily rounds. You have to dodge traffic and can give hand signals to slow cars down. Towards the end of the “ride”, you have to fight Dr Robotnik, who is throwing bombs at you. You can use a jump attack to hit him a few times as you dodge bombs.
Once you finish, you get awarded a score out of five. It’s an extremely simple game, but for the audience, it’s much better than just sitting one one of those rides.

Being a cop is so antithetical to everything Sonic T. Hedgehog is and what he stands for. An icon of freedom and rebellion against societal norms cast as as the iron fist of the unjust law is like if you turned Lucas from Mother 3 into a capitalist. 'Oh but he is stopping Eggman from evil" or "He is still a cool guy on his off time" doesn't change the fact that this Sonic has probably incarcerated many innocent individuals on his own biases or because of how cruel certain laws are. This is not who Sonic is, I refuse to believe it.
