skill issued on this one... love the aesthetics but it's a bit hard to get around.

I was on the final level but I got really drunk that night and the game's bright colors caused me to puke all over my DSi.

Had to grab a DSIware game so I got this and I love the aesthetic but fuck is it a tough thing to learn, and then the Mothership part is just dreadful
Its tough, garbage to control, still kinda fun

Enjoyed that more than I thought I was going to.
Even as someone who's never played the original 1992 X game, this was a really enjoyable experience.
The missions were fun and varied, a decent level of challenge, lots of optional quests to raise your ship's ranking, and the story and premise was really cool with great callbacks to the original game.
But for the love of god, play it on Button Controls.
The Touch Controls was some of the most uncomfortable control schemes I ever felt playing a game, I cannot stress that enough.
I recommend getting it before it disappears forever alongside the 3DS eShop.

I had an enjoyable time with this one! It's a 3-D geometric space shooter with unconventional controls that hamper the gameplay often. After a while, you get used to it but it was still pretty annoying at times relying solely on the stylus to control my movements.

Apparently, the story connects back to an older Nintendo game, one I was unfamiliar with until after I played this one. The AI sidekick does a decent job explaining the first one but it felt like it mentioned the events of that game way too often - it ended up making this feel unable to stand on its own. Graphics reminded me a lot of Star Fox which is nifty if you also enjoy that early 3-D geometry aesthetic.

Not a fan of when you do all the extras in the game and there is zero acknowledgment - what is the point in clearing out all the enemies and finding all warp gates? A hidden planet or enemy bestiary would have been nice. Final Boss can get frustrating but it is not hard to learn. Music and overall atmosphere kept me the most engaged - exploring planets and fighting off robots will never, not be something I find intense pleasure in doing.

I would say go try this out but Nintendo sucks so try your best to set sail and nab a digital copy. Can't say that I have ever played a game like this before and it kept me coming back!

Absolutely incredible that this exists. A DSi sequel to X, the already obscure black & white Game Boy game from Dylan Cuthbert, wunderkind creator of the original Star Fox, 20 years later from the same creator. It’s low poly as heck and feels kind of great to play with the stylus. X is cool, Star Fox is cool.

doesn't seem to matter what i do. this mothership keeps crashing into the base and killing me. i want to like this game, but it is fighting against me as hard as it fucking can.
