Definitely my favorite X game, crazy this released in 2008.

The space empire must grow, the credits most go up, the fleet must get bigger. One of the best space sims I've played for a while, not too daunting compared to the likes of Elite Dangerous or EVE. Been butchered by the passage of time, but has been a fun 400 hours.

Is there a worse name for an alien race than the Kha'ak?

With peace and love, you have to be in full-on gremlin mode to enjoy this. Too obtuse, boring, and honestly kind of pointless. Only good thing about it it's the graphics. Numbers go up!

im the first to review this game because you have to be a freak ass fuck to play this shit but its awesome and about flying around in space and you can do whatever you want

These days, I just haven't got the patience for a space-empire-building game. Even if I did, I think Tachyon: The Fringe (and probably Freelancer, I haven't played it) nails the "fly around to stations, pick up missions" narrative aspect with more personality than this game does.

I excitedly got out my joystick and plugged it in while Steam installed the game. However, while the game responded to joystick input, the tutorial messages didn't explain which joystick controls did anything, only keyboard controls were given. For a space ship game, that's not great at all. I ended up giving up pretty quick.

Fond memories of letting this game run on increased game speed over night and waking up to my trade empire having made a fortune
