Another early fighter that set the stage for many games to come with the high/mid/low system of punches and kicks.

Some of these characters have weird-ass names

This mf really out here named oolong

A super short game that had to be mastered to be beaten (at least until it starts to loop). Very martial artesque in a meta sense.

Gostava demais desse jogo, até hoje lembro do sonzinho quando dava um golpe kkkkkk.

my favourite 1984 famicom fighting game oat

A bit boring but always fun to see where the origins of something lies regardless of the outcome. I played through the Famicom version, which has less opponents as a heads up, so it ends up quite a bit more repetitive that other versions.

Surprisingly not terrible for a pioneer of such a complex genre. While very simple you'll need to figure out how to properly approach every enemy, which makes the game fun through its short run time.
The chinese jingle of the NES version will be burnt into my mind for all my life, right besides the Circus Charlie crowd cheers

A guy named Wang defeated me by kicking me in mine. Pure poetry.

Joy Mech Fight feels even more impressive in comparison. It's pretty wild to see how far NES games progressed throughout its lifespan, a lot of the early stuff was GARBO. Yet this game does have a certain charm to it, with each of the opponents having a unique caricature-like identity. Sort of like a proto-Punch-Out!! except all the racial stereotypes are exclusively Chinese!

I have good memories from this game. I used to play it in my older brother's NES. That dude with the chain was so dificult! The game itself wasn't that good but nostalgia prevails. Also, that song... Sometimes I start to hum it while washing the dishes. It's just sticked to my brain forever.
