Remasters and remakes succeed when they make returning to the original iterations unnecessary. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition achieves and even exceeds this expectation. By modernizing and harmonizing game mechanics across each game in the trilogy and adding the majority of DLCs, this is one of the greatest remasters for one of the greatest series ever.
I can't describe how I feel about this! Playing this so far has been comforting, nostalgic, and fun. Sometimes, I can feel the age of the games, but it in no way takes away from the artistry or the immersion. I'm hoping someday in the future we can get a continuation or remaster of this series. Given the state of the gaming industry in recent years, my hope is shaky, but I am looking forward to anything coming next.

Mass Effect 1 Review
I really like this first game in the trilogy. It's not perfect; there were a few things that I didn't really like about it, but I enjoyed a lot more things about it than I hated about it. For one, I didn't like that there wasn't much characterization when it came to squadmates. At least for my playthrough, I only really got maybe three unique conversations with each of the squad (Except for Liara, which I romanced). I would've liked to see more from Kaiden, Garrus, and (especially) Wrex. I got Wrex's loyalty assignment fairly early in my playthrough after maybe two conversations with him, but after I completed it, I just felt that he didn't have much to offer in terms of character and development until that choice (iykyk). Ashley didn't really at all seem like an interesting character to me, or a necessity in my squad so that choice was fairly easy between her and Kaiden. One other nitpick I had with the game is that I felt some of the assignments got to be a little repetitive. It was mainly go to this distress call, kill these enemies and I was finished. One of my favorite parts of this game, however, is this beautifully crafted story. Saren was an amazing antagonist and the twist that it wasn't entirely Saren all along was pretty surprising. I loved that. Another thing I really liked was the combat. I played on insanity, which got easy after a while, but the combat kept me coming back to the game and I love it. I would probably give this game in the series a 4/5.

As a sucker for anything in a sci-fi setting, this was a foundational experience not only for me as a fan of sci-fi, but also as a video game enjoyer. Not having a lot of exposure to RPGs as a kid, this opened my eyes when I first played 1 and 2.
Revisiting these games as an adult and beating 3 for the first time was a joy and I loved my time with the characters. One of the grandest adventures I've ever experienced in video games.

Alright combat, good story (maybe not so 3) and world building. Wish there was more morally gray options not just good vs bad or that the Paragon options actually have a negative effect just to mix it up vs like it always being the correct choice 100% of the time.
Combat is total shit 1. Best in 2. Alright 3.
Story is best 1. good 2. just alright 3 (dialog is fine just main overarching plot).
no gay sex with garrus :(
