It's amazing how much more fun this concept got with the ability to play with folks online, and having separate energy bars for solo and online play almost completely sidesteps the mobile-style mandatory "break or pay" system introduced with TKCD (until you get to a really high level, at least). I completed all of the score-based missions (~800/900 in total), and if this had gotten post-launch support, had added a few more unique bosses, or another class/archetype or two compared to the 3DS original I'd probably still be playing this from time to time today.

It's so weird that his exists.

The gameplay is mostly fine, if repetitive since there are only a few really viable strategies and everything is a boss battle. However, I ethically cannot give a game with pay-to-win microtransactions to overcome crippled game balance and a time-limiting energy system anything but the lowest rating. Also, once Nintendo shuts down the Switch online store in the future, this game will be borderline impossible to finish legitimately similar to Team Kirby Clash Deluxe.

After finally beating the true final boss (no, not all party quests, and not ever going for the ALTERNATIVE TRUE FINAL BOSS. Like, holy crap, Hal. Ok, maybe I will) I can finally say: this was a guilty pleasure. Pure torture with the little satisfactions a F2P game with microtransaction can offer after weeks and weeks of grinding.
But it really felt like getting into the equivalent of a glorified mobile phone game but on console. Gem Apple farming (not much aggravating compared to other actual gachas, game is generous enough for getting into the essential) and level up grinding mostly via party quests with, ofc, laggy matches while on a ethernet cable was all kinda painful.

Thank you Nintendo for not putting any scammy gacha mechanic, especially for the weapons/armor system. That would have made this game a 3/10.

Overall still better for me than Mass Attack, and that's the most important part.

Nah Kirby stay out of this genre bruh
