above avg indie/pt type horror gameplay uplifted by great setpieces and an awesome ending

5.5/10

It's a quite redundant nth installment of "PTesque horror walking sim". Just like Layers of Fear, it doesn't hide its mind-game roots and delve into the main character fragmented past and psyche from the very beginning. It's less boring than Layers, aid also by the novelty of the cultural framework depicted. Gameplay-wise, it has its few moments but it doesn't benefits from adding puzzles to the walking sim formula. It's painfully boring and machinic even in less than 3 hours.

Devotion is harrowingly effective at using environmental storytelling to shed light on real cultural issues in Taiwan. The surreal nature of the environment not only helps create a chilling atmosphere, but makes exploration more interesting.

My IRL walking simulator is more terrifying.

La ambientación está buena, por ahí da cagazo pero en general no da tanto miedo. La historia es interesante y tiene unas vibras del Silent Hill P.T. Ta bueno che
