An orienting experience for a life-long JRPG-liker. Playing this after 32 years consuming entries within virtually every other big-name RPG series is a bizarre, reverse-formative experience. Suddenly feeling the genesis of textures that have been spectrally present in so many later games. I would not have known what in the world to do with LoraLuv without a guide, though. Also, curse the implementation of “I guess you’d better use Look/Check on literally every tile of the dungeon until you find the needed item.” These are things that Horii’s future spiritual JRPG progeny were right to leave in the evolutionary dustbin.
