It's one of the good sonics, at least.

Better than the wii version, easily. Level design compliments the boost in 2d; far better than sonic rush. The game is relatively easy but levels feature multiple branching paths and offer choice as to whether or not to use wisps, as well as offering replayability through unlocking wisps in earlier stages like the wii version. Unlike the wii version though, I didn't feel like the wisps were intrusive here. They blended into the level design a lot more organically, which in and of itself could only happen because the level design is much better. Most of the wisps I really liked using in this game, although burst and void both take some serious getting used to. The way the game handles accessing the true final boss is really weird but the content itself is solid; special stages are inoffensive and not overly frustrating, true final boss is really impressive for a ds game, being the only time in a handheld sonic game that you're given full 3d control; and it actually is not bad at all.

OH YEA BABY WE’RE SO BACK
