I lost hours of sleep to this game as a kid. I wasn't even having fun. I was just addicted. I'm only writing this review because I hate this game with a passion and maybe I can stop someone from trying it out.

The gameplay is nonexistent. It's just, waiting. In order to unlock what you'd assume are basic elements of a Sims game like marriage and having children, you need to complete a series of quests. Quests will unlock new features and you can't complete a quest until you complete all the quests before it. How do you complete quests? You must complete a series of actions. Stuff like cooking, fishing, reading, etc. You know, the stuff you can do in the sims. In most Sims games, these actions might take a few seconds or maybe a minute or two at most depending on what they're doing. In the Sims FreePlay, actions can take hours. Real hours. Days even. "Mmm yes, watching my sim fish for 48 hours is really top-tier gameplay".

Then, to do things like get married or age up your characters, you have to spend a premium currency called "Life Points". These are handed out to the player in large amounts at the beginning of the game but become incredibly scarce later on to encourage the player to buy the incredibly overpriced bundles in the store. Even the Sims 4 isn't as bad as this game when it comes to microtransactions and at least that game has stuff to do in it. All you get to do in the Sims FreePlay is send sims to work for 8 hours then make them read a book for two days and, congratulations, you're 1% closer to unlocking the ability to make your sims old.

I have no idea why I care so much about this game. It's just a soulless cash grab made by EA to try and squeeze some money out of people who can't afford to buy a computer to play the other Sims games. I was just thinking about a game that I could leave a 0.5 star review for and then remembered the sleepless nights I had as a kid waiting for my sims to finish their 12-hour-long actions.

In middle school I let girls make themselves in The Sims FreePlay on my Kindle to impress them.
