i've never played a game this gay in my life and frankly im just glad it exists

also the combat's really fun but the gacha is worse than both its successors combined. But it's also pretty easy to get whatever characters you want and there are less of them

the story's really good tho

Despite this being probably one of the most predatory gatcha I have ever played and the fact that I have way too many grievances with it that I can be stuck here for 2 hours, the story and characters in this game can be phenomenal. Certain story arcs are very dear to me and I believe the best of HYV's writing is to be found here.

I enjoy the gameplay, the controls are weird if you do not play with a controller, but I personally did not mind after a few days of practicing. Main gripe with the story is that you do need to do quite a bit of reading (primarily the manga) to get into the universe and the start (and early stages/story) in general seems rushed and throws a lot of information at you which you will not be aware of if you have not read into the universe prior to the game. If you decide to stick and continue, however, you will find a very compelling story which has its ups and downs in writing quality. I love the character arcs and the different POVs you receive.

Other notes:
- the music is really good, which is unsurprising for a HYV game. The one constant in this studio is that no matter the quality of their games, the music is always really good.
- Mixed opinions on the events - story related events are reran a lot which is nice for new players, but a lot of events tend to involve a lot of grinding to finish, including Daily log-ins.
- Character designs vary - a lot of the old ones are frankly bad and suffer from sexualization/"fanservice." The new ones tend to be designed better and the "fanservice" as of the past 1-2 years is bearable for a gatcha.
- I personally found the new core UI changes unbearable.

Honestly unsure how I managed to write such a long review for a game I have not played since Part 1 ended. Do not think I will ever try Part 2, but I may come back some day when I want to play with my Senti team again.
