this is my first tales game ever!

i love velvet as anti-hero protagonist and iirc i dont really find anything bad about the writings. i love the premise of the plot, it got me want to play it more and more even though i found myself bored with the gameplay and a lot of running.

but i love how the writers kinda took us in velvet's side and i found myself justifying velvet's actions and hatred (literally "i support women's right and wrong" moment here) throughout the game.

i found someone said that tales series is a small game of big company so i guess it kinda explained the way bamco treated this series, yknow like lukewarm hype and halfassed aspects. but, one thing that i love from the game is the details in environment design! i remembered getting awed by the rugs and tapestry in that one harbour village!! the intricate details were amazing.

im kinda okay with berseria being my first tales game because it's good even with the battle mechanics that confused me.

I've tried to pick up and play this game multiple times because everyone that is into the Tales game genre has spoken so highly of this game. I can definitely see that there is something special about it too. I think it's fair to say that this game, and perhaps even this entire genre of games, is just not for me. There are certain JRPGs that I can vibe with, and this just isn't one of them. Therefore, don't take my rating as a fair assessment of the game itself.

The game feels like you're playing in an anime. Unfortunately, in my experience, between playing this game and watching anime, I think I'd rather just watch anime. I love the idea of engaging more deeply in an animated world. However, the gameplay elements just aren't exciting enough to make it worth the extra effort of providing the input. The game systems are also incredibly vague and confusing. I'm not entirely sure I understand them, or even want to bother understanding them at this point.

One thing I will give the game credit for is the story elements and atmosphere. Velvet is a badass, and it feels awesome playing as such a dope female protagonist for the first portion of the game. The opening soundtrack is also one of the most hype songs I have ever heard. The title screen has been the most intense parts of the game for me so far.

Fantastic cast and good story, its just held back by some weird pacing and godforsaken level design
Even though the first half is rather weak the second half makes up for it by being fire af even if I'm somewhat mixed on the ending

I'm glad I picked this as my first Tales of game. I enjoyed the gameplay, the story, and most importantly the characters. The only thing I'd say is the music is forgettable at times. Other than that, I love this game and I'm glad I experienced it

I really liked the story and the characters.
The gameplay took me a little bit and maybe wasn't for me, but still enjoyable.
Really loved the world.

I found Velvet to be a very compelling MC. Her arc was great, though i felt it stretched out just a little too much- the pacing especially was hurt by it.

Eizen was fantastic.
I'm happy this was my first foray into the Tales games.
