Though the strategies for success are obtuse to a new player, this game absolutely nails the atmosphere of getting lost on an alien planet.

Overcoming its challenges feels like a real big-brain moment, though with some guidance it's not all that difficult to get through.

This game blew my mind as a kid. I was like 10 or so at the time.
It was so unlike anything else, with its combination of cinematic platforming, storytelling through in-game actions, 2D polygons for smooth animation, and its sci-fi "other world" theme. It hasn't aged great but I respect what it accomplished at the time.

A frustrating game to play with zero tutorial, stiff control, obtuse puzzle and unaccommodating save point. A true pioneer that laid down the foundation for modern action adventure. It was perhaps too ahead of its time, that twenty years later, the golden formula of shooting, platforming and puzzle solving, accompanied by a strong cinematic direction and narrative focus, finally revealed its true potential. This is a fascinating piece of videogame history that is well worth experiencing, but you'd better have a guide in hand.
