This is the worst Pokémon game.
The art style is desaturated and boring. The texture quality is better than the other switch titles but they do nothing besides further sanitize the Kanto region.
There is no substantial added content. The route layouts, trainer placements, and gyms are copypasted from the Gen 1 games. Unlike FRLG, it does not include any additional areas. Instead, 150 trainers are thrown around the region that act as the postgame. The director of this game admitted they were just placed to pad out playtime.
Exp growth is slowed to a crawl to incentivize this games new catch combo mechanic. If you don’t want to fall behind on levels, you need to grind out just about every single area with encounterable wild Pokémon. The amount of trainer battles from the original are the same so theres constant roadblocks even after your team is sufficiently levelled.
There’s completely pointless babyproofing literally EVERYWHERE in this game, most notably with gym leaders requiring you to meet a standard before you can even challenge them. The most notable example of this is Brocks gym requiring a grass Pokemon in your party.
The music this game is entirety orchestral arrangements of the original songs. Every route and every area has the same instruments blaring at you, and not one of them is sufficiently remixed to make it less boring to relisten to. There is no variety in this score whatsoever, which is notably more painful coming out of USUM which has probably the most vibrant and diverse OST in the entire series.
The original Gen 1 games are terrible by todays standards, but you didnt need me to tell you that. This game is those games with every ounce of soul sucked clean from it. It’s a blatant cashgrab that tried to doubledip in the GO and Kanto nostalgic audience. This game was made to waste your time, and no other Pokemon game in the series does that nearly as much.

Super recomendo!

arguably the best way to experience Kanto (basically competing with fire red). There's already so much bloat in the the Gen 1 games, and the GO style of catching simply speeds up the more tedious parts of a pokemon game that you're most likely done a million times over. Not to mention this is probably THE easiest way to complete a pokedex in a modern pokemon game. Great graphics that fit the pokemon world, albeit a bit basic (though that's better than a lot of what gamefreak puts out). I would recommend trying it out if you were hesitant the first time around.
