Star Fox: Assault captured my attention like no other game in the series. The story is dark and interesting, and the constantly shifting styles of gameplay keep the entire thing fresh. Both the ground and air combat are surprisingly fun, and I ended up getting a lot of mileage out of the co-op VS mode this game offers.

Star Fox: Assault offers a unique blend of on-rails Arwing missions and third-person shooter segments. While the classic aerial combat is thrilling, some may find the ground missions clunky. The story is engaging and the multiplayer is surprisingly fun, but the focus on on-foot combat may disappoint purists. Overall, Star Fox: Assault is a fun, albeit uneven, entry in the series.
