It's not bad, although I never got super far into it. It's one of those games that has all the elements that I would think would make me like it, but it never quite landed for reasons that are hard to place. Maybe one day I'll go back and give it another try and figure out whether I do like it or not.

Without any previous knowledge of what the hell "Arc the Lad" was, I sure did try my best to play this after my mom bought me a copy from Costco (????). It was my first real experience with a JRPG of any kind and I've never really been able to get into them in the 20+ years since.

I just don't have the patience anymore for this type of game. Losing progress bc I couldn't safe before a fight bothers me more now that I know this is basically a rarity in modern games.

I'm sure I would have loved this in my teens and I would have had the time and patience for this. But I'm not. :/

Not very well known game, but really good.

It’s an ok game. I tried it out again because I played it as a kid, the nostalgia was nice but if I hadn’t played it as a kid I would have quit a lot sooner.

I enjoy the combat system, but it gets very repetitive and the way exp is earned is off putting. You need to keep your party evenly leveled (which is difficult because of the way exp works, based off damage dealt) or else some characters will be completely useless.

I quit at the last boss because my party was too weak to continue, and there wasn’t any way to leave the final area to grind exp.

Deimos were the only interesting part of the story for me personally, and I would have liked the game more if humans just weren’t in it at all tbh.
