WHY ARE THE CAMERA CONTROLS INVERTED?!?!?!?

I cant for the life of me get this dude to double jump consistently. Great level design tho

As a kid I always wanted to play Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, but I never had a PS2 to play it on. Now as an adult, with my own control over what I spend my money on, I got myself a console and the game to play! Years later, it's funny to feel a nostalgia for a game that I never grew up on. But thats what I felt. The writing feels very 90's/2000's with smart ass remarks from Daxter and attitude from the Sages. The Precursor Legacy plays like many other 3D platformers of the time, but with its own individuality that today feels distinctly Naughty Dog. The controls were a bit janky at times, specifically the camera, and I wasn't always the clearest on hit boxes. But the game was fantastic and I'm glad I finally got the chance to hang with Jak and Daxter after all these years. Absolutely one of the classics and a must play.

great platformer with fun characters and animation

Might be nostalgia talking but one of the best 3D platformers, not only for the gameplay but also its characters and its overall charm. Had a great time 100% it after all these years.

Came back to this game as a 20 year old after sitting with incredible memories for 9 years. HOLDS UP

I liked 2 and 3 better as a kid but in retrospect this one was the best; 2 and 3 were products of the "dark and edgy" time but 1 is more timeless as a family platformer.

very ez game to platinum, do it if you have the time it's excellent

Moveset has a decent variety of options, but 1/3 of the collectables can be resumed in "Give character money" while the other 2/3 can be very hit or miss. The final section is quite good tho.

The story kinda feels glued with bubblegum to the experience. I understand that it's not so heavy focused but it felt like barely anything happened.

The general aesthetic could be resumed in "French cartoon but with below-average weeb levels"

It's a fine game but it's clear that they didn't have a clear focus on what to do for the first entry.

Way ahead of its time in a lot of ways, but the last stretch was such a steep difficulty increase for me that I didn't think I'd make it for a bit!

Still a great platformer with fun designs and characters. Very engaging and easy to play through again and again.

Really fun enjoyable adventure game from the golden era of the ps2.

I do want to get back to playing this eventually, but so far I'd say I like what I've played up to the point I stopped at!

However, a setting like this feels better suited to a gameplay style akin to Zelda than a collectathon platformer :P

100% for the third time baby!

this will be another nostalgic review so if you're here for absolute straight gaymer facts you may scroll past.

i have so many great memories with this game back in the ps2 era. i had so much fun falling in love with the characters, the different areas and all of its charme combined. i remember playing this game tons and tons when i was a child and always coming back to it, discovering new things, new hidden powercells i didnt know of and even gameplay mechanics i didnt know of.
this was my personal introduction to naughty dog, being born in the early 2000s, this probably was the best way to step into naughty dogs territory.
while this is indeed your regular "hero saves world"- collectathon, it has such an amazing feel to it no other game could ever deliver to me. characters arent being bland despite having their regular roles of these games given to them. a lot of the dialogue is a reason for that. its funny, its quirky - its the most early 2000s it can get. gameplay is pretty easy from the start yet has a, lets say rather surprising difficulty spike at the end where they really want you to set these jumps at the right time.
collecting everything in this world even rewards you with the true ending of jak 1, leading straight into its sequel, jak 2.

while the good aspects of this game scream early 2000s, the controlling does too. the double jump can be absolutely janky and a pain in the ass. the camera at times also does whatever it wants - the ps3/vita version of the trilogy even having several music bugs as i found out in my recent playthrough. kinda sad but nothing too much for me. the checkpoints are fairly well placed so i do think they were aware of some of this.

im happy this game is staying untouched to this degree tho. the charme and good qualities it delivers wouldnt hit as good as it did back then. the ps2 version is still the best way to play this so i cant recommend getting that one enough.

so yeah. not much of a ratchet and clank fan but rather staying on the jak and daxter side here. :D

Man this game still slaps even after all these years

Tentativa da playstation de fazer o seu proprio mario 64, resultou, gostei, 8/10

It is technically impressive with it's 0 loading times and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with the general aesthetic and humor of the game. It feels straight out of a late 90s/early 2000s nicktoon. But other than that it's not that great. The levels are pretty bland and jak controls like shit. His moveset is fun to play around with but things like double jump seem to be a flip of the coin which is can lead to quite a few frustrating and unfair deaths.

She Jak on my Daxter til that Precursor is my Legacy

But for real, whoever designed the double jump in this game needs to be hung in a dank medieval dungeon by their thumbs

My favourite platformer ever. I love the characters and the movement is so fun.

Mi plataformas en 3d favorito. Súper divertido y fácil de jugar a día de hoy.

Dans le panthéon des platformers 3d, il est juste à côté de Mario galaxy tant il est intemporel
