Cute puzzle game inspired by the Game Boy Color. A fun time.

It's pretty great. The speed is a little bit hard to get used to, and the artstyle/character designs never really meshed with me, but this is otherwise a fine edition to whatever this genre is called (I hate calling them puzzle games, Tetris and Puyo are not puzzle games. Can we come up with something better?)

Petal Crash is great! An interesting action-puzzler with a cute style/lighthearted story, filled with inspiration from games like Panel de Pon, Magical Drop, and Puchi Carat. If you like any of the aforementioned games, you will probably also get some enjoyment out of this one. Very fun with friends online too.

Maybe not my thing, but if there was ever going to be an action puzzler that I dug, it would be this one with it's easy to pick up but deep gameplay and the charming retro aesthetics including very catchy music.

Petal Crash has an absolutely impeccable amount of charm. From its writing to its spritework, it's a legitimately engaging collection of short stories and cute characters with a clever enough hook to know exactly what kind of cute lil' game it is and get the most out of it. On top of that, when everything comes together with a fantastic crash, blocks all moved into position to knock into each other in one big string while you start to look for the next, there is a FABULOUS kinetic burst of accomplishment that really only Tetris Attack matches. It's a quick-adapt style puzzler that simultaneously allows you to build and actively participate in, and the dynamic system on which you score points - that being having a certain combo lead over your opponent to deal damage that diminishes the longer it goes where no one has scored a point - makes the need to go from intricate chains to well thought-out two-matches fantastic. It marries all of the best elements of puzzlers together in a fabulous burst... it's just that the board, inherently, is a bit more limited than other puzzlers due to being less freeform. The feeling of your opponent messing you up is felt MUCH more here than in games like Panel de Pon or any versus Tetris game, because the interference your opponent runs is directly in your play area, rather than purely above or below it to add pressure. I'm not entirely sure what the best solution to garbage blocks is, but it creates a situation where comebacks are far more difficult in Petal Crash than its (good) contemporaries. Perhaps I just need to git gud properly, though. Characters are still absolutely adorable, game is generally adorable, I really look forward to what a sequel will bring to the table for this game!

I'm not very good at chain reaction puzzlers like Puyo Puyo but this one is really easy on newcomers who just want to enjoy the cute pixel art and bits of story. I liked Pokemon Puzzle Challenge as a kid so a GBC-styled puzzle game gets some nostalgia bias.

a very cute and fun puzzle game. I don't love certain similar games like puyo, but this one is pretty good! very cute art style and love the GBA throwback design of it. The story mode isn't like vast or epic but it is well written and fun.

A great throwback to old school arcade games that makes them feel relevant to today! The gameplay is simple to grasp and satisfying to play and the story mode is so cute, I loved following all the characters on their little journeys. Special mention to the bangin' music!

Some of those puzzles are HARD though.

Petal Crash is a simple little puzzle game with charming characters and some pretty catchy music. I got it for pretty cheap and loved it. Unfortunately it's one of those games I can't bring myself to play again after putting down for a bit but that's probably just me. If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket I'd recommend this game. It's simple but pretty fun.
