It was an interesting idea back in the day that each port (GC, PS2, and XBox) would get a 1 different character. I guess if you were into Tekken getting Heihachi would be cool? In any case, the combat is accessible enough that a person like me who doesn't play too many fighting games can enjoy it, but it does have a decent skill ceiling as you learn more. The campaign mode was both incredible and often frustrating, but ate up tons of hours while I tried to unlock and beat every level.

The time and hardware between Soul Blade and Soulcalibur II feels very significant for the game they wanted to make, naturally just like SB the empty arena means they can really make their character models stand out in quality but with the PlayStation 2 they're also allowed to mess with the backgrounds which end up producing really satisfying scenery and stages. I went blind on arcade mode and was pretty satisfied with the controls and if I put an effort into learning the controls and techniques I'm sure its very possible to go through the final boss and the destiny match before it with no problem. On native hardware the game runs smooth and I really like how there's no load times (except for the final boss) in-between rounds, replays, and continues. Overall a game I will enjoy playing more of when I get the opportunity to do so

holy fuck lois… is that heihachi mishima !?

HELL YEAH THE PEAK OF SOUL CALIBUR! I only played Soul Calibur a year ago but the evolution of the series is so good, the first SC was alright it did set the standard for the series and it improved the combat greatly from the proto-game Soul Edge since everyone was actually balanced, then 2 was released and the rest is history. (Extra points on this game for introducing my main, Cassandra)
Stepping and moving around the stages feels smoother than the games prior also guarding feels like it has an actual impact in this game (actually they revised guarding for this game which is why it feels so much better than Edge and 1) also Soul Charge was introduced this game too, all of this topped with memorable stages and music to go along with that.

I've beaten the Inferno but I will keep playing it

This is one of my favorite games of all time, the only reason I never beat it was I got too angry at the game’s ridiculous AI and disliked just spamming continues to win, so I tried doing some 1ccs for a little bit and couldn’t get anywhere, so I gave up for a little bit. I’m a kilik main by heart, but beat this game with Ivy, the character everyone loved. Thanks, I’m just Trying to think of why Someone would like Ivy so much.

Best in the series, the better console would be Xbox though. Legond of Lanky; Zolda is overrated as f***!

I owned this game on every console, but I mainly only played Astaroth

(So because my Soulcalibur 1 "review" was a shitpost, I decided to put a part of what I would've said on here because this applies to Soulcalibur as a whole) So I wanted to play Soulcalibur to determine the difference between the sword characters in Tekken (like Yoshimitsu) and those in Soulcalibur who mostly use swords and other weapons. I can FEEL the difference. Anyways, Soulcalibur 2. A lot of fun. Maybe I'll revisit Soulcalibur and play the rest of the series, but this is my favorite one so far.

Talim gang, learned my first juggle with Talim

Played this a lot as a kid, nothing but nostalgia for this one.
