I'm at the beginning of act 2 and so far I like some of yuri's interactions and stuff I guess
the combat is god damn so slow and it's supposed to get better but believe it or not games should be fun almost all of the time playing since that's the whole point of them and I don't like them withholding mechanics for the sake of forced snowballing. the story has been slow and forgettable too

What a damn gem! This was a special time in my life, where I was in the thick of a gaming community and getting to know some friends with whom I shared the experience of playing through this game at pretty much the same time and it was such a cool experience that couldn't have been possible without this game being so good and impactful for us!
Edit at time of uploading (3/19/2024): If you want to know my more genuine and updated thoughts on this one, it's much more worth checking out my review of the 2009 PS3 version ^^;. This is one of the "reviews" (if you can even call it that, being this short) that is most out of line with how I currently analyze media compared to how I did back when I first started this stuff <w>
I knew I'd probably like this game, but I had no idea of how much I'd like it. I utterly adored this game. The combat system was great fun, and never felt stale, for all of the 72 or so hours I spent on the game. Especially once you get the 'Combo Plus' skills for Yuri, his combos are just so damn satisfying to pull off.
The characters were also really well written and well voice acted to boot. To a certain level they were tropey, but they actually had some really great subtleties to them that made them very endearing to me, but maybe it's because I just don't watch much anime Xp
End verdict: I super enjoyed this game, and it turned me into a super-Tales fan. Currently having a lot of fun going through Tales of Symphonia :D
