Pikmin 2 is a really good game but WHOMST ever decided that half the game should take place in quasi-procedural caves was being a silly goose (pardon my language).
I think 2 is the weakest of trilogy, but I also still really enjoyed how explorative it feels. I expected to dislike the lack of urgency of 1/3 but I ended up really enjoying just poking around. And, the sense of challenge here does elevate the tension, especially in caves. So I guess I'm neutral on the caves. They make everything quite tense which I like with respect to gameplay. But idk. Overworld exploration > caves!
Also I wish the Purple / White Pikmin were more proper species opposed to just being found in the Candypops.
Nonetheless, Pikmin is just better than most things that exist, so yeah I still had a fantastic time playing.
Gotta go rescue Louie now, I suppose
