In the Latin dub of the series, there are multiple occasions where villains (usually Meowht) use the word "digimon" as an insult. Knowing that Pokemon are treated like real animals and critters, it is not very difficult to discern that Digimon is a game that many of them do not like because its a tamagotchi and use as a euphenism. It's like us when we say that that fat man plays League of Legends.
