One of the first JRPG I've ever played, back when I couldn't understand english at all. I somehow managed to beat it and it stuck with me ever since. I decided to give it a long overdue replay to understand the world and story this time and god damn was it worth every second of it. Finally understanding the context behind some scenes made me realize how hard I was missing out on this franchise.
The game starts off pretty silly but the more you play the more horrible it gets. I couldn't sympathize with Fou-Lu for the entirety of Chapter 1&2 and then the unspeakable horror started. I actually had to turns off the game and go catch my breath for a while cause I was FUMING with anger and disgust.
But, despite everything, humanity is worth saving.
