I don't agree with how the PC version was handled from the publishing side of things but this is just an overall improved version of a masterpiece so fuck it.

Visually, some things look off, while others look better. Particles and effects such as fire, smoke, sorceries, etc all look vastly improved and now cast light on surroundings. The reflections on armor and some lighting, however, looks a bit off at time. I feel like armor looks great 98% of the time though, but some models are unnaturally lit in some areas, which isn't an entirely new issue but it's a bit worse here. Areas can also look oddly bright when seen from another area, most noticeable with Demon Ruins when seen after Quelaag. Overall though, it looks nearly the same to me.

Aside from some pretty small visual oddities, however, it's just better. Rock solid 60fps (which is much easier to run and more functional than modded PTDE), better graphics options and remappable controls (including L3 jump, which is a big deal to me because fuck accidental jumps after sprinting). Not to mention improved online due to matchmaking servers, though I played offline.

On top of all that, there's some extra nice QoL updates. Holding up/down will quickly take you back to your first spell/item respectively, you can use multiple soul/humanity items at once, pressing the triggers in the inventory jumps a page making things quicker and consumables you grab don't get "equipped" instantly which prevents clutter. Also there's a warpable bonfire near Vamos which is a bit silly but good because that asshole is in a shitty location.

So yeah overall it's a rather basic Remaster but it's a nice improvement to me and I can't complain. Functional rock solid 60fps alone is honestly more than enough of an improvement for me to make PTDE completely obsolete. The other features and QoL updates on top of it all are just icing on the cake.
