What a weird game this is. I would love to know how this even got made. Like I could understand Hudson Soft doing it for their PC Engine game Bikkuriman World, but it befuddles me here. So yes this is a Wonder Boy in Monster World reskin with Journey to the West aesthetics and from what I played it's decent. Sadly it's got issues like you now can't tell when the hourglass will flip and take a heart from you unless there was a way to tell and I'm blind. They also made your i-frames less generous as it's now very easy to get juggled into taking a lot of damage. The music is also not very good in my opinion. But at the end of the day it's still Wonder Boy gameplay so it can be fun I just can't really recommend this version outside of curiosity or looking into the Famicom library.
