I was so excited for this, and was so disappointed with it.

This game really needed to be a much bigger step up then it was. When you're playing it, you can't help but feel that you're really playing a reskinned Fallout 4/Skyrim.

Because of the way the game works, exploration is a lot less satisfying. You can't just see stuff and go there because of transitions etc etc and it makes it feel less special. When you're on a planet then yeah, you can go to that mountain; but be prepared to walk for 10 minutes with nothing of interest along the way.

I think 'nasapunk' is a really cool aesthetic, but I just don't think it works very well for this game. It makes it much harder to spot items etc as everything blends together a bit too well. You have a scanner that can help with this, but I don't see why I should have to have this on the entire time, especially when every single previous Bethesda game didn't need this feature.

It has the worst in-game maps I have ever seen in 20+ years of playing video games, and there is not single hint of exaggeration in that sentence. They have implemented much better maps in an upcoming update, but I feel the need to highlight how bad these maps were. It made navigating locales a strenuous effort.

I've shelved it until it's had plenty of updates, but I don't hold out much hope for it.
