Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the third installment in the franchise but the first game in chronological order.

It is astounding, and quite frankly, my favorite game of all time.

I first played this game when I was about 4 years old, preferring it over the others, my father has told me. I think I know why, strolling through the tall grass, hearing the birds chirp, and being able to shoot a gun and sneak around. That's all I really wanted In a video game as a kid and its perfect in its time frame. Some things nowadays though are a bit dated, not being able to crouch and walk, shooting with square and aiming with L1. If you're a Metal Gear fan, these things won't bother you much, because you know what you're getting into and that's probably the reason you love it. But for new players, Id assume its a bit hard to get the rhythm of things and fully understand the charm of MGS3's gameplay. Because it truly takes a good amount of patience. When you do though, the feeling is like having a warm cup of hot cocoa with you on a cold night. Getting past that part that irritated you is exhilarating for me and its why I love this series. It shows you that you can be greater than you imagined, it just takes a little patience.

I'm quite fond of the Graphics, and that's a surprise given this is a PS2 game. The lush green environment and bleak jungle fog makes it feel humid almost, and the excellent sound design that attributes to the birds, footsteps, and overall ambience really makes it feel all the worthwhile and very immersive.

The bosses in this game are my favorite out of any game ever, and I will let you find out why for yourself.

Most of the characters are pretty intriguing, and feel like they belong to the world that they are thriving in. Interactions feel authentic, and involved, like they had weight to them.

The story is pretty good too, Its got Love, Betrayal, Heart, and Humor. Its just a good mix of everything. It doesn't try to take itself too seriously, but does in the right moments.
