An unforgettable experience. I can definitely see how this is named as one of the best games of all time, it's just personally not one of my favorites. The combat, art style, concept, characters, and music are all amazing. It was also one of the first games to do a LOT of things such as having NG+, multiple endings depending on the player's choices, and a hub area that has now become quite popular in modern games.
The fact that there's not really any random encounters too makes this much more enjoyable to play than Final Fantasy. I like actually being able to SEE the enemies in the overworld. The story was nothing special in my opinion, but the concept of time travel and the way it was executed was pretty great especially for its time. It's a game that holds up insanely well nearly 30 years later, and I definitely recommend it as an essential to anyone who's getting into JRPGs. Also the last phase of the final boss was insane, probably one of my favorite final bosses in a turn-based game ever.
