Most overrated horror game of all time, i went into this game few years ago expecting the masterpiece of gaming the fans talk about, it ends up being the most overrated game ever.
1) the game is not scary at all, its just creepy, the monster design is creepy so maybe thats why people were scared? however the game fails at every point to be scary due to its clunky controls, awful combat mechanics and generally bad sound design.
2) Control are clunky as hell and James control like a truck, its hard to move around with him and the camera is just horrible.
3) The story has its good moments but the symbolism is overrated, its themes are slightly above average, it has no good message at the end, i would rather say this game story is edgy.
4) Combat is awful, the worst combat i have ever seen to date, boss fights are absolute joke, fans really are in denial if they think this kind of combat is passable.
5) Some ost are good, the rest? so boring.
Overall this game is the most overrated horror game i have ever played, Amnesia and Alien:Isolation puts it to shame.

“Edgy story” is a great take on it.
Silent Hill 2 fans think the game is mature and deep only because it seems mature on the surface, they seemingly don’t care about the execution because all of them are done in a lackluster fashion, their inclusion in SH2 (parental abuse, rape, bullying, marital abuse/issues) teeters on complete disrespect due to how the game childishly waves them around. It only uses them to call attention to how it can include “mature” subjects and to enhance the “creepy” feeling of the town, not to explore them in any meaningful form.
