Really enjoyed this hodgepodge of Roman history and Groundhog Day-esque hijinks. It holds your hand a little more than I would like and the "canon" ending had a little too much cheese for my taste, sure. However the intentionality and depth to the world building set The Forgotten City apart from others in the genre.
