I beat this game in 14 minutes. This is one of the stupidest games ever made.
First off, the actual ghostbusting part of the game is completely pointless. All you need is a capture beam to beat the game. All that fancy equipment? You don't need it. However, some ghost food comes in handy too. To access the last stage of the game, it doesn't actually matter what you do, it just happens after enough time has passed.
After you get your equipment, go directly to the ZUUL BUILDING and wait 5 minutes, until you are allowed in. Don't think you can pass time by messing around the map screen, though. The more you move around, the longer that you have to drive. So, a 150 mile trip suddenly turns in 8000 miles.
So, you enter the ZUUL BUILDING, and get hit twice by ghosts. You put down the ghost food to get them out of the way, and walk up the stairs and open doors until you get hit by a ghost hiding behind one. There's a bug with those hidden ghosts, in that if you get hit with one HP left, your health underflows to 255. So, for the rest of the stairs, you're effectively invincible.
Then you fight Gozer. You just gotta shoot her. But you can just cheese it by positioning yourself so your shots always hit, and then repeatedly go down a screen (which will scroll down and clear all projectiles), and then go back up to the main fight screen and shoot her twice. Rinse and repeat until she dies.
