Just wanted to say that chapter 13 is probably the worst thing I have ever touched in a video game and I have no idea how I got through that in one sitting while keeping my sanity

Final Fantasy 15 is a game of highs and lows. If you like good storytelling, you'll be extremely disappointed. If you enjoy fun combat, you'll find yourself mildly pleased. That is until the end of the game in which the gameplay gets shitty too. TL;DR only play this if the concept really interests you, I suggest playing other Final Fantasy games instead otherwise.
