VR Wii Sports, disturbingly fun to just annihilate some kids

VR Skater is tragically the coolest I have ever felt.

Its so wild to me just how well VR Skater works. At no point does it really feel like the games error when I fail, its always human error. That's not to say the tutorials couldn't be a bit better, but i digress. This game should be a puke machine, yet instead its one of the most comfortable VR games I've ever played, one of the only games in general that I actually care about getting better at, and has a unique control scheme that allows for that learning.

The only reason my score is down to 4 stars is because 1.0 introduced a few nasty bugs that introduce some real problems, but the devs are well aware and working on it.

It is worth noting that I am a massive Boneworks fiend and also entirely fine with this games very open-ended premise. Your mileage may greatly vary dependant on your opinions of those two things.
Regardless, I adore this game. It's essentially just a more concise Boneworks that's much more compatible with drop-in short play sessions and I appreciate that.

That's not to mention the really interesting stuff in the actual narrative of the game. It's fascinating seeing a sequel that is functionally about the development of the first game and not just thematically, but also getting into the actual technological development of it which is especially interesting for such a revolutionary game as Boneworks.

Walkabout is perhaps the perfect VR game. A perfectly executed incredibly simple premise. Everything feels right, the art ranges from simple and pretty to stunning and impressive from course to course, wonderful music, great bonuses like finding lost golf balls, or the more advanced searches for new clubs, hundreds of excellently designed holes of mini-golf which are regularly joined by new courses at a reasonable price.

Easily the new default for introducing someone to room-scale virtual reality.

A little janky at times, but a fantastic game. One of the first true achievements of the genre.

If The Last Clockwinder has taught me anything it's just how wrong all the coaches were that tried to recruit me to sports teams in school cuz I can't throw or catch for shit apparently

It's Sniper Elite VR again, warts and all, but less inspired.

The Zombie Army games are a relic of the cottage industry that was Left 4 Dead Clones before we landed on the modern slate of household name co-op shooters. It made all the sense in the world to play in the early 2010s.
That is to say, it's a usually not terribly unique or interesting horde shooter that takes very directly from Left 4 Dead. It does do some interesting stuff with enemy types, but in my experience that interesting stuff is sandwiched between a lot of uninteresting "clear the area" style objectives.
It's not bad, but I don't really see why anyone would play it in 2024

Sniper Elite VR is a little tough to talk about. It came out around the same time as Sniper Elite 5, but is vastly more similar to V2 than the stylings of the games 3 and up.
It's a pretty good execution of that V2 style, but that V2 doesn't really hang as a new release in the 2020s. It's not a bad game, it just feels very fine and overly safe.

It is baffling that V2 is as good as it is all things considered. Who asked for this game to be made? Who asked for a sequel to the 7/10 Sniper Elite, six years after release?

Alas, it got made, it's an excellent game, and it revived the franchise to its modern success.

3 is the change the series needed to stay relevant. I personally think it's a little simple compared to the two later entries of the same style, but it can't be denied that it's the second most important entry in the series behind V2

In my opinion, 4 takes all the good change that 3 created for the series and puts it in a better set of levels and a better story. It's a less interesting setting overall for sure, but the level design is consistent and great.

After the intense "filling a market hole" vibe of resisting Zombie Army Trilogy, i expected very little of Zombie Army 4. That was a mistake. Zombie Army 4 is a fantastic horde shooter. It takes all the good stuff from the earlier Zombie Armys of the enemy variety and general weapon situation, but then just has so much fun with it throwing in boss enemies and special weapons and traps and so much more.

There have been a few attempts over the years to make a new Lemmings-inspired experience. None have felt amazing personally before now. Moons of Darsalon is everything I love about Lemmings mixed with everything I love about Noita all wrapped in an amazing art style.

Chillquarium is an idle game in the truest sense. You can barely do anything, and you're just supposed to look at it. Its generally a good execution of that, but its kinda hard to critique an aquarium.
