Went in blind expecting to see a mix of narrative and gameplay, but honestly from my short time i've seen more of a VN style story with placeholder serviceable gameplay.

I admit the thoughtful intricacy of them handling non-linear storytelling, and it holds up. But the plot itself and its elements are nothing new nor novel in my opinion. You've got highschoolers, mechas, time travel, and a looming apocalypse they're trying to prevent.
Story beats are alright, dialogue is alright, almost everything's alright. It's the mediocrity that made me feel I just don't care about Aegis rim enough to shift through its episodes just to see it's conclusion.
