For the most part Lords of Shadow 2 is about on par with the first game. It's largely what you would expect from a sequel; you unlock upgrades and new moves faster, the bosses are no longer Shadow of the Colossus rejects and the presentation is even better.
Sadly, this title inherited many of the less than stellar aspects of the first entry while also incorporating utterly irredeemable stealth sections.
At least we got some closure for the story. This is a special series in the sense that you must play every game and expansion to understand what's going on.
