I would really prefer not to recommend this game because the writing is even worse than in Human Revolution, focusing yet again to an schizophrenic degree on augmentations. However, Mankind Divided goes a step further by incorporating transparent references to 2016 trending political issues straight from social media.
I'm not impressed by this, the original Deus Ex mentioned influential people by name in the first 30 minutes. If the developers (who are Canadian by the way) really wanted to comment on the migratory crisis in Europe then they should have just done it. Making tangential references like they did is cowardice.
Ghost in the Shell probably was a large inspiration for Eidos Montreal given certain themes in their games that are absent in the original so it's even more embarrassing that GitS Standalone Complex addressed a similar topic about immigration in Asia on their own series over a decade before this game even released.
For PC in particular there's also the issue of Denuvo DRM, that disastrous pre-order campaign and DLC items being tied to hardware and such.
Now this is a video game, and I have to admit that it's good too. It's better balanced than Human Revolution, there are more upgrades, the hub area is better, etc.
In that regard, I have to admit that I enjoyed playing Mankind Divided as a game, but I don't care about the series anymore if Eidos Montreal is gonna be the developer for the next one.
